Innovative Health Solutions began with a question that wouldn't let go: why do diseases that quietly threaten thousands of lives remain so poorly understood in the very systems meant to protect them?
That question took root during the origin of neglected tropical disease work that combined biostatistics, epidemiology, and years of experience in administrative health datasets. Overall findings were clear: neglected tropical diseases don't stay neglected by accident.
Founder and Principal Consultant Joshua Trowell, PhD, MPH carried that conclusion out of the dissertation defense and into the field after relocating to Port Vila, Vanuatu, to build a consultancy where the work could happen where it mattered most: in a region where climate change, water systems, and vector-borne disease are not separate problems, but one interconnected reality.
IHS was registered in 2026 as a Vanuatu-based public health consultancy, built to bring rigorous epidemiological methodology to the programs, ministries, and partners working to protect Pacific communities from neglected tropical diseases and the climate forces accelerating them.
Today, IHS operates as a full-time, regionally embedded consultancy.
